Smooth Criminal

Lots of people feel that conducting a criminal background check on the people they are close to or people they are considering being close to is akin to a crime, or at the very least dishonest. If you can't trust someone why are you close to him or her? And, if you are considering being close to someone shouldn't you be able to tell on your own whether they are trustworthy or not?

The fact of the matter is that the majority of people are good and honest individuals. But, there are those bad apples out there who know how to manipulate you to make you believe they are good when in fact they have a very dark history. You must protect yourself and conducting a criminal background check is a great way to do so. You will find out whether you have a need to worry or not and then can move on with your life.

Of course, if you feel super uneasy conducting the criminal background check without your significant other knowing then consider doing a background check on each other, together. Talk to your significant other and let them know that you think it would be fun to do background checks on one another. If your partner is game or doesn't seem to care then you shouldn't anticipate finding anything worthwhile on the criminal background check. But, if your partner tries to talk you out of it or make you feel bad about even thinking of it then you should definitely conduct a criminal background check on that person, but alone.

The best way to go about the criminal background check is to do it alone and not tell anyone else about it, especially your significant other. That's because it can cause hurt feelings for those honest people in your life and it can really anger the individuals that are truly worthy of a criminal background check. It may feel dishonest or sneaky, but it is worthwhile. If you find out all is well you may consider coming clean in the future but don't decide not to conduct a criminal background check simply because you feel it's dishonest. Your safety may be at risk.
